FAQs

What does the name MILLS mean?

Throughout American history, mills were important centers of technological transformation where raw materials were made into valuable goods. The name MILLS embodies that spirit to streamline the renovation process with powerful, intelligent systems that make complex projects manageable.

How does the MILLS Plan work?

Once you share some basic info—your location, a photo of your space, dimensions, scope, budget, and style preferences—we generate a renovation plan tailored to your project.

You’ll receive a detailed PDF including layout options, three design directions, a budget and labor breakdown, vetted contractor leads, and permitting guidance—usually within an hour.

Why is there a 14 day window to select a design and get a custom materials list?

Our process is set up to be able to accommodate you in a reasonable response time and maintain a manageable queue of requests for our designers. This ensures that you receive our full, prompt attention.

That said, if you believe your case deserves an exception, reach out to us at design@getmills.com and we’ll do our best to help.

Is the MILLS Plan generated by AI?

We use AI to speed up parts of the process—like generating style variations, formatting documentation, or estimating quantities—but every plan is created using expert design logic and real-world renovation experience.

Every MILLS Plan is curated to ensure it's realistic and actionable.

Can I request changes to the plan?

Yes. You’ll receive three different design directions to start. If you want additional options or modifications, you can request changes for $29 each. Just reach out to us at team@getmills.com.

Do you offer 1:1 design help?

Absolutely. You can book a 30-minute design consult for $99. We’ll walk you through your plan, help you troubleshoot challenges, or give tailored advice for your project. E-mail team@getmills.com and we’ll get you on our schedule.

How is MILLS different from hiring a designer?

Hiring a full-service interior designer often costs $1,500+ for bathroom renovations alone. MILLS gives you expert-level direction—fast, clear, and without the overhead. It’s a smart starting point whether you’re managing your project solo or bringing in a contractor.

What’s coming next?

Soon, you’ll be able to manage your renovation inside MILLS—with tools for scheduling, budgeting, contractor communication, and payment tracking.
